FORTEZZA FORTRESS

Venetian Fortress was constructed in 1573 by Venetians (more than 100,000 Cretans on compulsory labor and over 40,000 pack animals worked hard to build the fortress).One of the largest Venetian Strongholds ever built.Best view over Rethymnon,completed with sturdy four bastions and 3 gates,local used the stronghold as a shelted to be protected from invades by pirates and the Turks.
